With over two decades of experience as a successful prosecutor, Edward J. "Ned" Coyne turned his attention to defending clients in both civil and criminal litigation. Mr. Coyne has extensive experience in front of juries, having handled trials for crimes including homicide, attempted murder, arson, carjacking, robbery, armed robbery, and drug distribution, among an array of others. He has also trained law enforcement on topics including illegal search and seizures, confessions, legislative updates, and mock trials.
Mr. Coyne has also assisted in training FBI digital forensic examiners and computer scientists, giving him an invaluable inside perspective on how to defend clients in these types of cases.
He has twice been nominated to the judicial short list by the Carroll County Judicial Nominating Commission for judicial vacancies in Carroll County, and was a member of the team that founded and established the Drug Treatment Court in Carroll County.
Mr. Coyne also participated in multi-jurisdictional crime fighting groups including the Maryland Criminal Information Network and as Co-Chair of Organized Crime Task Force with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, he served as chair of the Behavioral Health and Addictions Committee.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Mount St. Mary's University, graduating Cum Laude, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
