State Delegate Joseph Vallario considering State constitutional amendment to undo right to counsel at initial bail hearings.

State House of Delegates Representative Joseph Vallario has indicated that he is considering introducing an amendment to the Maryland State Constitution to remove the right to counsel at initial bail hearings. In the case of DeWolfe v. Richmond, the Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that the right to an attorney attaches at a Defendant’s first bail hearing in front of a court commissioner.  Source: The Daily Record
